Many of these products cache the data locally during sending/receiving, this seriously affects the speed testing results especially on small sample files. You may even see impossible result which is even faster than the available bandwidth. The reason is that you are actually measuring speed between the Java Applet and the local firewall/anti virus program.
SOLUTION: We recommend to turn them off temporary. Many of these products bundle with web content filtering, ad blocker features, we have verified Kerio Personal Firewall 4.x has this problem when "Ad blocking Web Filtering" is enabled.
ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS: If you are installing SpeedCheck Pro, choose a non-standard port, such as port 8080 on your server because most of these software cache data on port 80 only. Also, Try using a larger file such as 50 MB. |
